LED under-cabinet kitchen light

LED under-cabinet kitchen light

LED strips can make a kitchen toe-kick or monitor backlight look custom — or become a sticky, flickering mess. We installed a basic 12V kit under a cabinet and noted adhesion, power supply quality, and cut-line basics.

Buy for the use case: USB strips for a quick bias light; proper 12V with an adequate PSU for longer kitchen runs.

Install notes

Clean the surface with alcohol before sticking. Tinny adhesive fails on dust and cold. For corners, use proper connectors instead of folding the strip hard.

  • Match voltage — 5V USB strips are not 12V strips.
  • Hide the power brick; don’t overload a cheap wall wart.
  • Prefer high-CRI white for kitchens over party RGB if you cook there.

When to skip

If you need primary room lighting, bulbs in fixtures still win. Strips are accents and task helpers.

Power supply quality decides flicker more than the LED brand sticker.

Measure twice, order once with spare length, and test before permanent mounting.
